1. View Equations and enter a Project Title.
If you choose to, the equations that are used in the AALM calculation are viewable on page 206 of the AALM Technical Support Document. Clicking the underlined text above 'base parameters' will take you to that document.
If you choose to, type a name for your project into the \"Project Title\" box.
This title will be applied to the results.
2. Enter Base Parameters.
Enter in values for lifetime (in years) and gender of the individual being assessed.
These inputs affect the default values that are used in the calculation.
The choice of gender affects the volume of modeled tissues / compartments over which lead mass is distributed.
3. Set the Growth and Physiology Parameters.
Choose to adjust growth parameters by clicking Yes or No.
Clicking yes to adjust growth parameters will open a table on page two in which there will be further parameters that can be altered in a table. Clicking no will keep the default values which are set based on gender.
Choose to adjust physiological parameters by clicking Yes or No.
Clicking yes to adjust the physiological parameters will open two tables on page two in which the time-independent variable(Maternal Blood Lead Concentration) and time-dependent variable(F1) can be altered.
4. Set Active Media.
Pick your active media, by clicking 'yes' will then the 'Number of Sources' and 'Number of Periodic Time Masks' options become open for input.
Limit of 3 sources and 9 time masks per media.
By clicking yes for air, with atleast one source, there will be a 'Lung Parameters' table on page 2. Where lung specific parameters are available for adjusting. The default values are automatically entered in.
5. Set Simulation Parameters.
Pick the solution type: Solve for Allowable Concentration or Forward. Choosing allowable concentration will open up a seperate table on page 2 where further inputs can be made that will have an output on the final page.
Pick between Stepwise or Interpolated.
Select either Linear RBC or Non-Linear RBC (Red Blood Cell).
Click the 'Retrieve'(new tab)' button at the bottom to go to page 2.
6. On Page 2.
Enter in the number of ages for Concentration as well as each age in years for each on the table. Then, enter in the concentration in µg/g for each source (up to 3 sources).
Enter in the number of ages for Intake as well as each ages in years for the number of ages you entered. Then enter in the intake in g/day at that age followed by the Fraction ( must add up to 1) of intake between each source for that respective media.
Enter in RBA values for each source.
Click the 'Retrieve'(new tab)' button at the bottom to go to the final page to view results..
7. Output and View the Results.
View the table and graphs created based on the calculated data from the simulation.
Click Output to XLSX to download an Excel file.
Click Output to PDF to download a PDF report.
