1. Enter an optional Project Title.
Enter in a title for the downloadable XLSX of outputs.
2. Select Target Risk.
Select the Target Risk Value that is appropriate for the project.
3. Select the Hazard Quotient.
Choose the appropriate Hazard Quotient (HQ) for your assessment from the two options: 0.1 or 1.0.
0.1 indicates a very low risk, below the safe threshold.
1 indicates exposure at that reference dose, the maxiumum to be considered safe.
Click the option that best represents the exposure for your project.
4. Select Medium.
Select either Fish Tissue for field measurement of individual fish species or Surface Water for
surface water contaminant concentrations.
If Surface Water is chosen, a bio-concentration factor
will be applied to estimate fish contamination.
6. Select Chemical Data Source.
Database hierarchy defaults - calculations will be performed using default
toxicity values. Users can still edit exposure parameters at the next window.
User-Provided - this option allows editing of toxicity values and
chemical-specific parameters after clicking Retrieve (new tab) at the bottom
of the form.
6. Select the Reference Dose (RfD)
Chronic refers to long-term exposure to the chemical, often over a lifetime or
several years. This option means that the interest is in long-term health risk.
Subchronic refers to the intermediate-term exposure, typically days to months.
7. Select the Fish Species of interest.
This box allows for the selection of the fish that is driving your project.
If the fish species you are looking is not listed, begin typing the name of the fish and
you will be prompted to add it.
8. Select Contaminants for all species of fish previously chosen.
Select individual Chemicals of Interest by first clicking in the box. Then either scroll
through the list or type the chemical name/CAS number.
Select Retrieve (new tab) after that to view the recommended meal consumption
for each selected fish. To download this output click Output to XLSX on the
right side of the page.
If the fish species you are looking is not listed, begin typing the name of the fish and
you will be prompted to add it.
9. Review and export results.
Click "Output to Spreadsheet" to save in spreadsheet (.xls) format.
Click "Output to PDF" to save in PDF (.pdf) format.
